Downe Syndrome 'Step Up' Event Gold Coast - Sunday 13th of October 2013 - APOK - Sunday 27-Oct-2013
Date: Sunday 13th of October 2013
Venue: Broadwater Parklands, Gold Coast Highway, Southport, 4215
Time: 0930 to 1100
Mission: This is one of the most rewarding troops you will ever do. You will get more high fives, cuddles and of course ear to ear smiles from these kids than anywhere else.
This is an event that the Downe Syndrome Society of Australia having started holding annually to bring awareness to this very special group of people. This will be their 3rd year and we have been involved from the start.
There will be a walk around the park (about 1km) but this event is pretty easy going. We are sort of dictated to by the kids

Details: Once again we headed off to the GC for the DSA. Another BBQ and a whole lot of fun.
After a meet up in the car park, for a change away from prying eyes, our three troopers and GA legend Rory headed to the BBQ area and got ready to have some fun.
Well let's just say we were received like rock stars. the big and little kids all loved that we had turned up. Sunny Ray, the GC suns mascot, was also there to say hi to the kids. Troopers and mascot worked the crowd giving out about a million high fives and receiving a lot of hugs.
Then it was time for the walk. A quick lap around the Broadwater area showing everyone how awesome we all were, mainly the kids though, and then it was time for a sausage on a bit of bread and cup cakes (after de-armouring of course).
A lot of smiles were had and a lot of people can't wait to see us again. This really is a great troop for us to do.
Charity Funds Raised: Nil. This was one for the kids.
Injuries / Malfunctions: Bullant was suffering from nipple chaffing from the previous nights troop at Astro Petes due to his undersuit zip exploding. Although he thought he had fixed the issue for this troop unfortunately this was not the case. Zip exploded again like the second Death Star and nipple chaffing went into overdrive!!
Public Incidents: One of the regular kids Toshi again wanted to see what was under the helmet. Cheeky little fella. Apok got whacked in the helmet by another kid with his own blaster numerous times. He thought it was funny and who was Apok to argue. Most people want to give a good whack over the head
Mission Status: Total success! We are already invited back next year!!
