Troop Report
Date: 02/09/17

Time: 0930 – 1600

Mission: To bring an Imperial occupation to Toowoomba’s second ever Comic Con.

Trooper Attendance: CC:33827 Bolt, CC:4159 Beanie, TK:90579 Scotty33, SL:21643 Awoo, CT:4056 Stormraven, TI:20552 Mykill, TI:11005 Red, TB:40363 RoboTom, TK:Barry

Wranglers/Table crew: TS:15070 RebelRach

Mission status: Success!

Details:

0930: I arrived early to scout out the area which we had been given to set up our table. We got lucky and were able to use the underground Library carpark, giving us an easy way to transport gear into the library.
Turns out we were put right next to the Doctor Who boys and the X-wing games, so that really drew in more people to our display as well!
We set up TK Barry, the real hero of this troop (more on that later) and Beanie brought the E-web which was awesome! One kid did discover a daddy long legs spider in the scope, only in Australia!

1000: I ran the table for the first half hour or so while everyone else suited up. Rachel took over from me and did a fantastic job! All the display items, brochures, flyers and cards she brought really made all the difference as we handed them out to anyone that would take one!
We had a little trouble with our change room as it was needed for a meeting, so we moved to the fire escape hallway. A first for many of us! We eventually were moved to a store room which was less roomy but a bit better.
There was a steady stream of people the whole day, coming for photos and just to say hi. We went outside for a while and checked out all the tents and the Batmobile. We got interviewed by a bloke from the Toowoomba Chronicle and the news team saw us as well.

1330: Most of the troopers de-kitted as Rachel and her crew had to drive back to Brisbane and others had to get back home. Beanie and I took turns watching the table as we ate lunch.

1400: With two hours remaining until the Con was over it was down to TK Barry to represent the Imperial Stormtroopers. He did an excellent job, he stood there all day and didn’t complain or even move once! Well done Barry.
I was actually surprised at how effective it was having the mannequin as part of the display. People asked if they could come up and have a photo with Barry and were asking all kinds of questions about him.

1600: The crowds slowed and the event wrapped up. We packed up all our gear and stuffed Barry back into my car (I actually dropped his head and it rolled along the car park, to the amusement of several onlookers!).

A massive thank you to everyone that came up and supported myself and Scotty. We could not have done this without you!!
Thanks to Beanie for bringing up the E-web, all the CRL books and for manning the table.
Thanks to Rach for bringing all the table gear and display items.
Thanks to Scotty for bringing his trading cards with the gross hairband wrapped around them.
And thanks to all the troopers that came up and made this event as amazing as it was.

I am looking forward to doing this again next year!
