Detail:

Woohoo! What a weekend! Thanks to everyone who came along and leant a hand Smile

Friday 19th August 1730

Tachyon's shuttle arrived at the venue, slightly late due to a confusion of transportation schedules. Troopers Hopfot and Buzzard had already arrived and scouted out the staging area for the weekend. It was found that the area was quite large. Unloading the back of the shuttle was easy and the corridor was erected in record time. Thanks to Hoppy and Buzz for helping out with the set up. Troopers departed at 2000.

Saturday 20th August 0700

Tachyon's shuttle arrived at the venue at the early time of 0700hrs. Kev Vader arrived shortly after, inspecting the staging area.

After a brief discussion about how the corridor frames were setup (Upside Down, Upside Down), the final parts of the corridor were added with help from Troopers Deltorn and Major Payne. New counterweights were delivered and the AV component of the backdrops was activaed about 0900hrs. By this time, troopers Draco, Buzzard and Officer Muppet had arrived to assist, Lord Vader departed to conquer the outer reaches and troopers armoured up for a day of interacting with the general public of Brisbane. It was found that a rancor had set up camp across the way from the staging area. The bounty hunter Dengar made his first Australian appearance in the morning, and I have to say, the effect was magnificent! Even had the lunch ladies talking!

Muppet and Major Payne left for other engagements around 1300hrs, and trooper Bigmac and clone Jimcricket arrived to provide reinforcements. The NOVA Sandman arrived at around 1330 and Troopers Tachyon and Draco went out to inspect the vehicle, pose with the radio crew and play some short games. The troopers then escorted the pair of presenters into the event and toward the staging area for some more photos. As things were winding down, Trooper Jaggered arrived, after a malfunction in his navigation unit took him through the Hapan Consortium. Troopers left the site of the event at approximately 1700hrs.

Sunday 21st August 0800

Trooper Tachyon arrived at the venue to meet the Bounty Hunter Crypto, who had brought along a padawan jedi and troopers Redpaint and Deltorn arrived shortly after. After recieving some comments about the repetitiveness of the audio track coming across the station intercom, Trooper Redpaint suggested a patch which would allow us to tap into the other internal communications of the Death Star. A quick visit to the IT manager of the event, and the patch file was transferred to the A/V computers.

Shortly after 0900hrs, Troopers Supatrooper, Phantom and Mitchel, with a Bounty Hunter Declan arrived and armoured up. A bantha carried denzien Hopfot in after the speeder he stole from a moisture farmer broke down. Troopers patrolled the venue before a brief journey to the entrance of the venue. After returning to the staging area, Pilot Natwest arrived, recently returned from his adventures in the unknown regions. Travelling in his TIE/sa, two Jawa's arrived too. The troopers and denziens attended the staging area for the majority of the day, with many, many photographic memories taken by patrons and staffers at the event.

The first wave of troopers departed at 1230 hrs and Troopers Tachyon and Jimcricket took a quick shuttle ride to the local McDonalds to pick up sustenance for the troopers back at the staging area. Around 1400, Cobra and Moxxxie arrived to lend some support and take some battlefield photographs. For a brief time, the staging area was overun with Jawas!

Bounty Hunter Crypto was summoned to draw raffel prizes as the event came to a close, and troopers Deltorn and Tachyon escorted QMHE Secretary Dan as Prisoner of the Empire to the staging area for photographs, congratulations of a great event and thanks from the Redback Garrison for allowing us to spread the word of the Galactic Empire. Troopers then disassembled the staging area and loaded it into Tachyon's transport for return to imperial headquarters. Troopers departed around 1800.

Once again, thanks to all the troopers who came along to the event and assisted, it was great to catch up with you all and meet some new faces. I couldn't have done the weekend without your support and our numbers over the weekend made for a fantastic event and the guys at the expo loved us. I got many compliments for last year and this year over the weekend.

Charity Funds Raised: TBC, I delivered the collection tins to Kev this evening.

Injuries: Hoppy had some armour bites after dearmouring, Tach almost broke a leg or two while loading the backdrop onto ute. No other injuries come to mind, post up if you do though.

Malfunctions: Upside Down, some of the frames were assembled backwards, which made Kev's job a bit more difficult on saturday morning. No other malfunctions come to mind, but I'm sure there were a few more.

Public Incidents: Nil

Mission Status: Complete Success, a verbal invitation to next years event was made as thanks were given to the organizing committee.

As usual we had a ball. Good to get into that white plastic and walk around amongst the crowd. Nice to catch up with some old and new friends behind the Death Star door. We looked good and put smiles on faces and what about some of those model kits...wow...great work Tachyon.

Great report there Tach. This was an amazing troop. It was like a mini supanova. I highly recommend any available troopers nest year to attend this, the responce from the crowd was great with many, many return visits. A huge thank you to tach for organising this. It was also great to see Buzzard do his first ever troop in muppets TS, he really didn't want to take it off.

Great report Tachyon!

And just for the record, not ALL the frames were upside down, just most of them Wink

But hey - they all still fitted together pretty well so that was good!!

Excellent work over the weekend troopers - I think this event is to become another permanent fixture in our busy calendar!

If Muppet hears strange sounds in his house in the middle of the night and wakes up to find his snowie missing... it wasn't me! I swear!Cheeky

I had a great time trooping and it's true, I didn't want to take it off. Thanks for the opportunity to wear it, Muppet, I really appreciate it.

The best part was the look on my wifes face when it finally clicked who the snowie was! Hehehe

Science! Because figuring things out is better than making stuff up.

Might be an idea to check and see if they have any of these going up your way. Same would go for all the other troopers out of range from the Brisbane area. Wink
