Troop Report
Date: 10th November 2012

Venue: RNA Showgrounds at the Sprung Aussie Hip Hop Festival.

Time: 0900 - 2230

Mission: To raise money for a boy called Josiah who has muscular dystrophy and needed a new wheelchair. The mission was to get the party goers at the Festival to dig deep.

Trooper Attendance:

Apok
Muppet
Scotsman
Jimcricket
Rents
Oigen

Support Crew:

Rentsy's better half Christie.

Detail: The day started with The Scotsman getting ther first to help organise the troopers as they arrived. My day started with my Sat Nav sending me up and the back down the Clem 7. After much swearing and steering wheel bashing, a deep breath and me looking at a map the old fashioned way, I found my way to where I was meant to be and should have just trusted my brain in the first place.

Once there Muppet, Rents, Scotty, Jim and Christie got together. Due to the rain and other issues our change area had been taken over by those pesky Hip Hoppers. We where allowed to change in the area but had to relegate our kits to the back of a truck. Unpreturbed Rents, Jim and I armoured up, with Muppet, Scotty and Christie acting as back up and bucket rattling duties. With that we hit the main gate and preceded to get lots of photos and coin from all the eager fans. As it was raining a fair bit most people heading straight for cover but many punters did hang back and get photos and drop in their loose change. This is where some of the groping began....not just from girls. Methinks many of the patrons had one too many blue milks before they got into the grounds.

Once the main crown thinned out we headed back to meet Seth Sentry and DJ Benny. Both of these guys where AWESOME!!!! Both guys treated us like the rock stars and preceded to ask us if it was ok to stay out there for the whole half hour set......um ok we thought and went HELL YEAH!!! So we waited for the big moment.

And boy did that moment arrive. As Seth and Benny hit the stage to the sounds of the Imperial March (Seth starts every show with that lovely tune) we followed him on and started the first song with a lot of fist pumping and Hip Hop jumping. Half way through that song all of a sudden Oigen joins the party. After heading ofver from Nova for a look he made his way through the crowds (of by then quite pumped up crowd) by himslef and somehow got past all the security without a pass. It seems whe you are dressed for awesome you don't need a pass or he used his old mumbo jumbo jedi mind tricks to get through.

Half way through the set Seth invited the Grey Ghost on stage to do some free style rapping and both those guys rapped about us. AWESOME AGAIN!!!!! With that the set finsihed to the roar of the crowd. Be on stage with a famous Hip Hop artist and dance in a set of Imperial issue armour. Tick that bad boy off my bucket list.

With that we rested and decided to head to Nova with DJ Benny. Whilst Oigen and I were waiting for the others to de-armour and Benny to get ready we went for a rattle of the can with Scotty. More money was raised, more groping happened and an unsightly incident (see Public Incicdents). The three of us then had to stay behind and the others headed to Nova with our new best mate Benny.

Lucky we did as then TZU decided they wanted us on stage. Oigen, Scotty and a quickly arriving Rents and myself got up there and had fun dancing to another song. Personally though Seth and Benny where so much better. They loved us.

After that there was a quick interview with me, Oigen and Jim and then it was decided that it would not be prudent to go into the crowd for more donations. So we de-armoured and sit back and relaxed and watched a whole lot of cool Aussie Hip Hop. Due to work for me the next day and a long drive home left earlier but the rest of the crew partied on and stayed to watch the main event which was the Hill Top Hoods.

This was a great troop and a whole lot of fun. Anthony Edwards, the organiser, will have us back next year as well as Seth and Benny. To the troopers that made it thanks making it a great troop. It was a complete blast and I cannot wait until next year!!!!!

Injuries: None that I know of. Rentsy did lose his voice from partying too hard.

Malfunctions: Scotsman's greedo eyes fogged up during his stint on stage with TZU that he couldn't see the hive five the band lead singer wanted to give him. Left him hanging haha.

Public Incidents: I had some drunken dumb "insert expletive here" young lady (I use that term loosely there) try to rip my helmet off my head. When it got caught on my face she tried to crush the helmet. I swift back hand from me and Rentsy ripping her off me, followed by a face off where she asked me what I was going to do about, led to security getting called and the police escorting her and her friends off the grounds. That's what I am going to do about it you silly little girl. She did however crack my TD bucket but it is fixable. Whew!!

The was also a whole lot of groping of troopers all day long. A whole lot!! There is also a picture of Jimcricket that I will not mention any further.

Mission Status: For a first time at ths event with not too much info to go on it went really well. We raised $585.70. Pretty good effort. The organisers will make sure it goes to Josiah.

Photos: Full video and photos of this epic awesomeness is on it's way from the event organisers. Watch this space!!!!

Dont know how you organised this Adam, but this was a blast.
Once in a lifetime troop, being up onstage to 5000+ revellers going off, the stage thumping, felt like rockstars!! Seth and Grey Ghost freestyling ,Star Wars style was insane!
Certainly be first to put my name down if this happens again.

A letter of thanks has been sent to Anthony Edwards who is the organiser already and Seth and Benny are getting a RBG care package with some pins and cards. Rentsy gave them some patches already I think. Let me know Rents if you didn't and I will send them some as well.

With any luck we will be back next year. How do I get these troops sorted Muppet? Just damn lucky I guess. It's all about who you know. Lucky I talk to everybody haha. Now time to get back into DW2013 mode.

You guys got a mention by an enthusiastic caller to TripleJ this morning

young lady called Jess that apparently helped a lost trooper find his way backstage.

Some (i assume) drunk nut trying to rip your bucket off sound like a heap of fun... hope that was the only bad experience.

Man that was truly such an awesome event. How I made it safely by myself through the whole crowd without tickets or passes to get on stage right on time I will never know.
