Hi all

I'm Paul. I hail from Brisbane.

Have been wanting to join the Redbacks since discovering the 501st early last year. Been meaning to get myself a storm trooper suit and well I guess the knowing what is approved and what is not has made me hesitant.

So I thought I'd bite the bullet and see how we go. I found this suit and am curious would this be acceptable to use at an event. If not what needs to be modified, added, etc.

Feedback appreciated.

STOP RIGHT THERE !!!

do not buy anything at all !!!

slow down and you need to come meet some of us and we can discuss your body size as to what armour to purchase. There are around 5 makers around the world (that we recommend)for different sizes, the armour you are looking at may not be approvable.

No worries. Haven't committed to purchasing anything at all.

I know the first place I looked at last year was from the UK, and the helmet alone cost $500. So I was a bit suspect at the cost of an entire suit.

So tell me when and where do I need to be?

Cheers

Welcome Paul

Take Scope's advice and hold off to make a armour party. There is one the 18th may coming up which should give somethings to see and depending on you build and size we can direct to the best armour maker for you.

If you can't make a party try to make maybe one of our events (see the events link) let someone know and maybe during a break you can get some questions in

As a new recruit myself my advise is to research and ask many questions. The last thing you want to do is waste perfectly good money.

The guys here in rocky have been a great help and I'm quite sure the brisvages guys are as well.

Have fun and enjoy the journey.

Scope is bang on the money, don't buy anything until you get a chance to talk with some troopers and see our gear first hand, and be extremely wary of anything (especially on ebay) claiming to be 501st approved, because usually they are anything but...

Greetings and welcome Darqueness, Wavey I think all the good advice has been given already so basically I would suggest get to an armor party ( so you can meet some of the garrison and see what goes into putting the armor together).

Ask lots of questions ( like asking before you buy armor, just remember there is no such thing as a silly question, and its always better to ask too many questions than not enough ).

Also if you haven't done so already join the Stormtrooper detachment on the main boards http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/ ( this site will give you a lot of further information and tips to work with ).

Finally Rubies is what is know as a Halloween costume so great to go out to parties in but it falls well short of being"screen accurate" which is the standard we insist on to be approved in.

Once again welcome and hopefully we will see you soon.

What do you call a stormtrooper who can hit a target?

Hey there. Not much else to add. Don't buy anything yet until you have had a look around. Jump onto http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/ and research all the different types of armour. Always ask heaps of questions.

Thanks again. I will check out the board.

Question, is there much difference between the storm trooper suit in NH, ESB, and RotJ?
