Yet another highly successful Brisbricks Strathpine this year, raising money for Hummingbird House.
For those unaware, Hummingbird House is a respite centre for terminally ill children and their families. Melbourne and Sydney both have these facilities, and soon so will Brisbane (Chermside).
In conjunction with the $3000 donation from Brisbricks, Troopers and Rebels alike, rattled the tins and did what we do best; look awesome in front of our equally awesome props.
Over the two days we raised an extra $1419, bringing the Brisbricks total donation to $4419. Excellent effort by all.

Once again the Speeder Bike was a hit with young and old alike.
Troopers also wandered the venue having photos snapped with patrons and the most awesome Lego displays.

This year Beanie took a step back and enjoyed the event as a Brisbricks member, yes Lego is his other passion. I am sure we were under his ever watchful eye. Beanie, I hope we did you proud.

Many thanks go out to the wranglers who we cannot do without, and to the new recruits that came along to learn the ropes, you all did a fantastic Job. Kai and Mykill, your enthusiasm is astounding, keep it up.

Last but not least, thank you to the Bump In and Out Crews, who make trooping these events so much easier on our Prop Master, Scope.

Injuries and malfunctions

Sly broke a snap, but Gaffer tape saved the day. Thanks Diatium.

Buzzard and have handed the keys back over to Beanie and say thanks for having us at Brisbricks Strathpine 2015.

I know money isn't our only indicator of success, but DANG! thats an impressive number.

Thanks to Sly and Buzzard for POCing, we had a relatively small space to work in but we were well looked after with food and facilities.

The cadets we have at the moment are amazing. Its hot work being in a costume, but they do the hard yards rattling the tin, explaining the charity, managing the queues. We should mention Scope here too, because I saw him wrangle the cadets all weekend, showing them the ropes and I rarely saw him taking a break.

The session with the autistic kids was good too, lots of smiles from the kids and nods from appreciative parents.

Archer. Wow what a little trooper this kid is. He's only 4, but he stood there in costume holding his blaster for ages getting photos. We took a break from the bike and walked the floor together and Matt grabbed this great photo. Great job Archer, I'll troop with you anytime little mate.

And this is Dark Dora "suggesting" its her turn to drive the speeder. She must have had a good weekend, she sent me off investigating costumes after that. Stay tuned for a new ISB in the near future.

Got to say, I had a blast, felt like I achieved something as a wrangler, not just a fanboy who showed up and got in the way (mostly), wish I could have been there Saturday as well.

Got to give major credit to scope, managing to herd us cats where we'd be useful on top of everything else had to be stressful, the man even gave me a shirt to wear (which I returned in not so fresh condition - I've since found out my tape idea could have damaged it, I'm lucky I got so sweaty)

Thankfully me, diatium and whitey figured out it was way cooler outside and working the line got people great photos and helped fill the tin (I take no credit, I'm the monkey to their organ grinder), walking teiwaz through the crowd to get to the cool was also fun.

Archer troops like a veteran, so many high-fives! (I overheard a member of the public remark "...now that is parenting done right...").

Funniest part was when I found the tube of superglue in the carpark!
"Perhaps I didn't make myself clear, I said supper is ready!"

Great time had by all. I really enjoyed wrangling on Sunday and I think my smiley stamp was a hit with the young and old. Lots of money going into the tins which was great to see. Looking forward to the next one.

I believe this is Beanie giving my daughter a hand on the car racing ramp. (Sorry I don't know everyone very well yet). That thing was awesome. We were guilty of being one of those that let their kids keep building new cars to race for about half an hour.
