Toowoomba Christmas Wonderland (Day #2)
#1
Date: 18/12/15

Venue: Toowoomba Christmas Wonderland

Time: 7:00 to 10:00 PM

Mission: As "Costumers" our mission was to roam around the park and interact with the public and take lots of photo's!

Trooper Attendance: CT:33827 Bolt, TK:4159 Beanie, TK:2863 Agent Smith, DZ: 70809 Dark Dora, TK:90579 Scotty33, TB:12311 Teiwaz, TK:3916 3Phase, SL:21643 Awoo (wrangling), TI:20552 MyKill (Troop/Wrangling).

Mission Status: Success!

Details: All transports arrived on time and we were greeted by Peter Gunders from the ABC. Teiwaz and Dark Dora graciously volunteered to be interviewed for an online story he wanted to write on 'Star wars super-fans' (you can read it here: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-12-21/st...ng/7045996 ). And as they controlled the media the rest of us suited up on a great afternoon, the weather really was perfect for trooping. We then proceeded to march into the park as masses of people lined up at the front gates. The Lions Club volunteers were very happy to see us as apparently plenty of people had been asking when we would return, and return we did! The numbers of civilians had almost tripled since last week, so much so that we barely moved from the sign in point at the top of the park. An attempt to send troopers to patrol ended in a distanced traveled of maybe 100m. Mykill and Awoo had the massive task of keeping the crowds at bay (and preventing lightsabers from stabbing into our helmets), Teiwaz and Dark Dora paired off to draw some of the crowds and 3phase did the same with his daughters dressed as jawas. There was a little rivalry between the classes of troopers as we had at least one from every generation (Animated Clonetrooper, ANH Stormtrooper, ESB Stormtrooper, ROTJ Scout Trooper and TFA Stormtrooper) With the TFA trooper deciding he was the best. There was equal support from the civilians as they all were happy to tell us which was their favorite trooper. We all had a great night and by the time that 9:30 rolled around we were all happy to take a couple of last photos, marched out back to the transports and take our buckets off!
A big thank you to all involved, it was a top night!

It was a great troop, and I found the correct maccas first try this time! Hehehe

I found this troop quite "illuminating"

Everyone shook their heads at how many strings of lights I had (5), but once it got dark, the crowds loved it!

Next time I'm bringing a torch to point at my face

The best I can come up with, is that I need find the doc and get my parents back together. Lol

I'll be heading back out for the school Fete in March!

Interesting working at night. The photography is difficult and the visibility is poor but the crowd was great and very excited to get a photo with us. My kids live up there and it was the first time they've seen us troop. It was a bit of an eye opener for them seeing how the public react to us.

Getting interviewed was interesting. The reporter had nothing written down but he just came out with a steady string of well framed open questions without pause for 15 minutes, same with Stacey. After the interview he followed us in to the Wonderland, and he saw what we do. He got the photo, and one with his son too.

After the troop we had Maccas in Margaret St. I used to work there, and I realised that when I worked there in 1983, ROTJ was in cinemas. Ironic to be returning carrying a scout helmet all these years later.

Thanks Bolt and the Toowoomba crew for having us, it was a great night.

Dont forget that "Parent" telling his 2 boys to kick me in my nuts.... what kind of dumb parent/guardian tell their kids to do such a thing and not expect them to do so.... other than that, it was a very fun drive and troop up the mountain. thanks for having us!!!

Sounds like a lot of fun, apart from the kick in the nuts bit. Well done everyone.

Nice photo! Agent Smith could use this for trying to get 3phase back to active status.

This was a great troop. My 2 jawas and I only walked about 50 metres and stood on the grass and couldn't move for the next hour with people getting photos.
Finally my arm was killing me hanging on to my blaster and my 2 jawas did great but there arms were buggered as well. Hopefully can do it next year.
