Aviation Australia Careers Expo Troop Report 19 Aug 2017

Venue: Brisbane Airport, Qld

Time: 10am – 2pm

Mission: To add a Star Wars presence to the annual Aviation Australia Careers Expo – an open day for the training centre featuring the Australian Airforce and other organisations, as well as a range of static aircraft on display.

Details: 
Weather report – low 20’s, clear skies WINDY! No chance of rain, HIGH chance of close encounters with some amazing aircraft!
 
Troopers arrived and battled against the wind to the spacious change rooms. With a formidable assembly of troopers (“Look its Vader, and other Vader, and another VADER!”)the group were popular with lots of photos taken. The expo staff, and airforce cadets were some of the biggest fans, and it was hard to resist a photo with some adorable Defence Force puppies too.
We worked the crowds awaiting bus transportation to the static aircraft displays on the tarmac and then headed there ourselves.  The mighty C-17 Globemaster, Super Hornet, Army choppers, a Hercules, fire engines and emergency choppers were all on show.  Some troopers lined up for a peek inside the C-17, at least it was out of the gale.
A slow walk around the tarmac pausing for a lot more photos, then to the main area. We toured the training and admin building for many more pics, before dekitting, enjoying a late lunch, and some very cool merch shopping, ourselves.

Injuries / Malfunctions: NIL

Public Incidents: NIL.

Mission Status: Our second year attending and a big success as always. Thanks to the wranglers and face characters for helping the armoured troopers. A great troop all round, we have already been invited back next year.
