Toowoomba Comic Geddon 2025

Venue: Toowoomba Comic Geddon

Time: 9am  – 4:00pm


Mission:
To raise money for a locale soup kitchen and to represent the 501st at Toowoomba's largest pop-culture event.

Saturday 14th (1pm – 3pm) Bump-in.
Bolt and Snips bumped in the Death Star backdrop, Roger and tables.

Sunday 15th Details:

0800 – Teiwaz arrived on site first and set up his 501st flags (very much appreciated!). Snips, Bolt and Glitch arrived next and finished set up. Oxy arrives.
0830 – All available troops suited up for opening. It was a cold morning so there was hesitation!
0915 – Crowds were larger than expected, which was excellent. Kelz arrives. Mykill arrives not long after. Snips, Kelz and Kai wrangle.
1100 – Many pictures were taken! Bolt de-kits to swap with Kelz. Other troopers take turns having a break.
1130 – Teiwaz de-kits for a break. Thumb arrives.
1230 – Glitch and Oxy finally de-kit for a break. Kelz, Mykill and Thumb troop the stands.
1300 – Bolt and Teiwaz kit-up again. Crowds were getting slow by this point.
1400 – Thumb rotates through costumes, Mykill roams the floors. Glitch, Oxy and Snips wrangle. Bolt’s helmet fans have died.
1500 – Crowds have all but disappeared by this point. We get a few people wander over to chat. We decide to call it and de-kit.
1600 – Pack up begins.
1700 – Pack up is complete, everyone has done much exercise carrying everything out to Bolt’s vehicle and trailer (yes I will park closer next time sorry).


Injuries / Malfunctions: Mykill got a blood blister rubbing duct-tape off the floor. He will live.

Public Incidents: Made a few kids cry, total was around 3.

Charity funds raised: $275.10 for Tony’s Community Kitchen.

Mission Status: Success! Our primary mission was to represent the 501st in a growing local event in the best way possible. We absolutely achieved that!
We also did a respectable job raising for Tony’s Kitchen, considering this was the first time the event was ticketed and held in a new location. Well done team!
This was also the first time we have used the Death Star backdrop in Toowoomba, I think it was awesome and necessary for this event with the space we were given. Thanks again to everyone that helped pack it up.

Special Commendations:
- Oxy & Glitch put in serious hours this troop. A gold star for both of you!
- Thumb for attending 3 troops in one day?! Insane that you came up for this mate.
