Down Syndrome Walk

Venue: New Farm Park, Brisbane 

Time: 1500 - 1700 

Mission: To attend the annual Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk event at New Farm Park.

Details:  An inclement day but still very busy at the park, troopers assembled for a car park change.  Walking through the Powerhouse complex we were stopped for photos by a few folk, then headed down to the park meeting point. The crowds grew as the troopers approached, many pics taken and high fives given. We led the walk along the river’s edge then through the park, before coming back and joining in some games, soccer, cricket and a sing along. JJ proved he was great at soccer in and out of his kit, Rhino made a good striker, Alrakis was pretty handy with the cricket bat and Rach was bowled out first ball. (some excuse about not being able to see in her helmet).
Another great troop completed, we dekitted then headed off to the Merthyr Bowls club for refreshments, and to help Imperial Drone celebrate a belated Birthday.

Mission Status: A success. We are well received by the kids and families, and the organisers appreciate us being there.
